USPS cash crunch could hit empty by October without reforms
The head of the U.S. Postal Service told Congress it could run out of money as soon as October or November if it must keep making required retirement payments, and urged higher stamp prices, broader borrowing authority, and other reforms. He laid out cost-cutting options such as ending six-day deliveries or closing post offices, though these could be politically unpopular, and noted the agency has posted large losses while awaiting a broader plan from Alvarez & Marsal.
