Graveyard Keeper, an eight-year-old pixel-art life sim RPG about managing a medieval cemetery, surged to a new Steam all-time peak of 31,216 players after its sequel was announced and the original game was made free-to-own for a limited time on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox (through April 13). The promotion could grow the fanbase for Graveyard Keeper 2, though Nintendo’s eShop still lists the game at $19.99.
Graveyard Keeper is free to claim on PS4 with no PS Plus required to raise awareness for Graveyard Keeper 2, which is headed to PS5 with undead workers, zombie-based automation, and town-building quests, though no release date has yet been announced.
Graveyard Keeper 2 has been announced for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 later in 2026, bringing a larger town to rebuild, the chance to lead an undead army into battle, and expanded graveyard management through crafting, automation, and fortifications. The original Graveyard Keeper has sold over four million copies and is being offered free on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One through April 13, 2026.
