Gynaecologist Dr David Sim has admitted to sterilising a woman without her permission and without medical necessity during an emergency caesarean section in September 2021. He acknowledged that the procedure violated the woman's reproductive rights and was not required to save her life or prevent harm to her health. The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) will now assess whether his current fitness to practice as a doctor is impaired due to misconduct and determine any potential sanctions.
