A charter bus carrying University of South Carolina students, mainly members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, to a formal in New Orleans wrecked on I-10 in Hancock County, Mississippi, injuring at least 11 people, including the driver who was ejected. The incident occurred when a tire blew out, causing the bus to lean and travel on two wheels before returning to the ground, busting the windshield and ejecting the driver. Nine individuals were transported by ambulance and two by helicopter to nearby hospitals, with their statuses currently unknown.
An 88-year-old man drowned after the ATV he was a passenger on broke through the ice in Hancock County, Maine, following a day of ice fishing with his family. Despite efforts from rescue personnel, the man, identified as Floyd Hardison, was unable to free himself from the submerged ATV and was retrieved from about 10 feet of water.

While his grandson was able to escape, Hardison was unable to free himself and sank to the bottom with the ATV.
Roger Crews, a man from North central Iowa, has been charged with first-degree murder after his estranged wife, Karen Crews, was found dead during a welfare check at their home in Woden. The couple had separated and were living apart. Crews was arrested in Minnesota and is currently being held for the murder.
