Meta and Apple Launch Muse Spark Open for Local Desktop Inference
Meta has released Muse Spark Open, a massive 816-billion parameter AI model optimized for Apple’s M5 Ultra Mac Studio. By partnering with Apple, Meta enables users to run this frontier-class model locally on desktop hardware using the MLX framework. The model features a 1-million token context window and is designed for complex agentic coding tasks. While it requires multiple Mac Studios to run efficiently, the collaboration marks a significant shift toward local, high-performance AI inference without relying solely on cloud data centers.
