Worst-case scenario models predict 5% fatality rate for bird flu in humans.

UK scientists have developed worst-case scenarios for bird flu, warning that up to 5% of infected people could die if the virus took off in humans. The models were developed by a team that included Professor Neil Ferguson, who projected the Covid outbreak. The UK Health Security Agency said the figures are "illustrative scenarios" for "planning purposes" and "are not predictions of what will happen in the future". The agency confirmed that the UK is at risk level three, which means the virus is spreading among mammals.
