Unveiling Quantum Transformations through Chiral Phonons and High-Harmonic Probes
Researchers at JILA, in collaboration with international partners, have successfully controlled the spin dynamics within a Heusler compound using extreme ultraviolet high-harmonic generation (EUV HHG) as a probe. By tuning the color and power of the probe light, the team tracked the re-orientations of spins within the compound with femtosecond precision. The results showed strong agreement between experimental data and theoretical models, shedding light on the dominant spin effects and providing insights into how spins can be manipulated for more powerful magnetic and electronic properties, potentially advancing the field of spintronics.
