Colorado signed Hobey Baker finalist TJ Hughes to a one-year entry-level contract for 2026-27 and a professional tryout with the Colorado Eagles, after Hughes led Michigan with 57 points in 40 games and helped the Wolverines reach the Frozen Four as an undrafted senior.
Max Plante, a Detroit Red Wings prospect and Minnesota Duluth sophomore, won the 2026 Hobey Baker Memorial Award as NCAA men's hockey's top player, finishing ahead of finalists Eric Pohlkamp and T.J. Fantilli, a center from the University of Michigan, had an impressive first season, winning the Hobey Baker Award and leading all college players in goals and points. He also represented Canada in international tournaments, helping the team win gold medals.
Michigan freshman Adam Fantilli won the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the best player in college hockey, becoming the third player in Wolverines history to win the award. Fantilli, the widely projected No. 2 pick in the 2023 NHL draft, just completed one of the best seasons by a freshman in recent memory, recording at least one point in 33 of the 36 games he played in this season. He is just the third freshman to win the award, joining Hall of Famer Paul Kariya in 1993 and Vegas Golden Knights star Jack Eichel in 2015.
