NFL Ditches Home-Game Protections as International Schedule Expands
NFL owners voted to remove protections that shield teams’ home opponents from being scheduled abroad and to raise the cap on international games from eight to 10 starting in 2027 (with the Jaguars’ Wembley game potentially bringing the total to 11). The change aims to open up marquee matchups overseas, paving the way for a large international rights package and a longer-term target of about 16 international games per season.
