Steam Sets Record With 720 New Releases in One Week
Steam’s catalog swelled to 720 new game releases in the week of August 24–30, a new all-time high that averages roughly 102 titles per day (about four per hour). However, most of these games are barely played: about 75% have 10 reviews or fewer, and 530 titles have 0–9 reviews, with only 10 surpassing 1,000. The record follows an earlier 670-release week and suggests there could be weeks nearing 800 releases. Historically, Steam released around 19,000 games in 2024, with a large share unplayed; in the first half of 2026, releases rose about 19% year-over-year, continuing the platform’s rapid expansion.
