Protests and Government Awards Clash Over 'NAZA' Documentary's U.S. Release
The U.S. theatrical release of the documentary 'NAZA' has triggered a polarized response, with organized protests in Los Angeles and New York clashing with official Israeli government recognition of a rebuttal film. While the documentary, which features interviews with Israeli soldiers regarding civilian casualties in Gaza, won a Special Jury Prize at Venice, it faces intense opposition from groups like the Israeli-American Council, who argue it presents a biased narrative. Conversely, the Israeli government has honored filmmakers of a counter-documentary, 'NAZA, The True Story,' for challenging the original film's claims, highlighting a deep divide over the portrayal of the war in Gaza.
