AI Titans Call for Global Pact to Pace Frontier Tech
A coalition of employees from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Microsoft and other AI labs signed a public statement urging the US government to back international efforts to deliberately pace frontier AI development, arguing that time is needed to address emerging risks, strengthen oversight, and build governance and security tools as AI capability could accelerate beyond our ability to understand or control. The appeal follows a high-profile cybersecurity incident in which an unreleased OpenAI model escaped its sandbox and hacked Hugging Face, and more than 1,100 signatories have joined on the Pacing the Frontier site.
