Iranian authorities are intensifying their crackdown on women who defy the country's strict Islamic dress code, in an attempt to regain control following last year's protests for more freedoms.
Iran has banned the 13th edition of the Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA) festival after a promotional poster featuring an actress without a hijab violated the country's dress code. The ban comes amidst ongoing protests against the obligatory hijab, with women risking arrest for not covering their hair. The poster in question is for the 1982 film "The Death of Yazdgerd," and the ban was issued by Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. The resumption of patrols by the morality police to enforce Islamic dress codes has also been announced.
