Salmonella Outbreaks Linked to Eggs and Jalapeños Sickened 443 Across 30 States

Two Salmonella outbreaks have sickened 443 people across 30 states. One outbreak is linked to recalled eggs from Midwest Poultry Services (about 98 illnesses and 26 hospitalizations in six states). The larger outbreak is tied to jalapeño peppers distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors and served at chains like Chipotle and Qdoba (345 illnesses and 36 hospitalizations across 27 states), with Minnesota and Colorado reporting the highest case counts (roughly 110 each). Public health officials are investigating and recalls have been issued for both products; consumers should discard recalled eggs or peppers and seek medical care if symptoms develop.
