Alan Ritchson is in negotiations to star in Maelstrom, a Netflix action thriller directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and produced by Jeff Robinov. The project, a revived 1993 spec, has been refreshed by writer Mark Bianculli, with former script input from Gregory Fitzpatrick. The story follows a Federal Marshal guarding the fiancée of an arms dealer under a hurricane-driven countdown as attackers close in, forcing a fight for survival amid the disaster and the armed assailants.
