"Discovery of Ancient Feline Species in Spain"
A new species of ancient feline, Magerifelis peignei, has been discovered in Spain based on the study of a jawbone fossil dating back approximately 15.5 million years. The well-preserved fossil, found near Madrid, belonged to a feline with a unique lower second molar and robust appearance, estimated to weigh around 7.61kg. This discovery sheds light on the evolutionary history of felines and their diversity during the Middle Miocene period.
