Engraving error mars Smith-Njigba's Offensive Player of the Year trophy
The NFL apologized after Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba received an Offensive Player of the Year trophy engraved with a misprint, reading ‘2025 Defensive Player of the Year’ and a spacing error; a replacement trophy will be shipped. Smith-Njigba had a historic season (119 receptions, 1,793 yards, 10 TD) and led the league in receiving yards, but the engraving mistake notably overshadows the achievement and was described by NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy as a basic spelling error.
