Gomez Faces House Ethics Inquiry Over Alleged Misconduct
The House Ethics Committee said it is reviewing allegations that Rep. Jimmy Gomez may have violated the Code of Official Conduct, including inappropriate contact with a staffer. Gomez, who is married, says his actions were personal mistakes, consensual, and not illegal, and he will cooperate with the review. The committee stressed that launching an investigation and public disclosure do not by themselves prove violations. The probe follows a year of ethics scrutiny involving several other lawmakers.
