Akron Fan's Dream Drive Ends in Fumble, But Zips Win 45-10
Marty Whims II, a Cleveland real estate executive and Akron alumnus, served as the 'Offensive Coordinator of the Game' for the University of Akron's opening drive against Robert Morris on September 12, 2026. Whims, who won a viral contest to script the first series, successfully called plays that moved the chains but ultimately lost possession due to a fumble by receiver Marcel Williams. Despite the turnover, the Akron Zips defeated the Colonels 45-10, with head coach Joe Moorhead praising Whims's preparation and execution.
