
Allen to Buy BuzzFeed for $120M, Named CEO in AI-Driven Expansion
Media executive Byron Allen is acquiring a majority stake in BuzzFeed for $120 million and will become CEO and chairman, with Jonah Peretti moving to president of BuzzFeed AI; the deal, expected to close by the end of May 2026, would give Allen about 52% ownership and aim to expand BuzzFeed and HuffPost into free streaming video, audio and user-generated content, while establishing BuzzFeed Studios and a separate Tasty entity and pursuing cost reductions.
