"James Webb Telescope Uncovers Planet-Like Objects in Orion Nebula"
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has made a fascinating discovery of Jupiter-sized "planets" floating freely in space, unconnected to any star, in the Orion Nebula. What's intriguing is that these objects appear to be moving in pairs, and astronomers are struggling to explain them. The objects have been nicknamed Jupiter Mass Binary Objects (JuMBOs), and one possibility is that they grew out of regions in the nebula where the density of material was insufficient to form fully fledged stars. Another possibility is that they were formed around stars and then ejected into interstellar space. The JWST's detailed survey of the Orion Nebula has added substantially to our understanding of this star-forming region.
