The New England Patriots released veteran linebacker K.J. Britt after claiming Darius Muasau from the Giants and Cameron Latu from the Eagles off waivers, marking the fifth veteran cut ahead of Week 1; the current depth chart includes Muasau, Robert Spillane, Christian Elliss and rookies Namdi Obiazor and Khalil Jacobs.
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Richard Sherman revealed that linebacker Devin White was benched for K.J. Britt in a recent game against the Green Bay Packers. Sherman stated that White expressed his dissatisfaction with being a rotational player and wanted to start and finish the game. This revelation suggests that White has fallen out of favor with defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and the Buccaneers defense.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White informed the team that he "couldn't go" before their game against the Green Bay Packers after learning that K.J. Britt would start in his place. White had participated fully in practice but was listed as questionable due to a foot injury. It remains unclear why White couldn't play, and his status with the team going forward is uncertain. The Buccaneers have won three consecutive games without White in the lineup, with Britt stepping in and making significant contributions.
