Kuo predicts costly camera upgrade for iPhone 18 Pro
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the iPhone 18 Pro will adopt a variable-aperture main camera at roughly 50% higher cost than the current top lens, with 40–50% of components sourced from Sunny Optical and Largan remaining a key supplier, a move that adds to margin pressures amid rising memory costs. Looking further ahead, he notes the 2028 iPhone ultra-wide module could switch from flip-chip packaging to a chip-on-board design, signaling more cost and tech changes for future models.
