Alaska Airlines Launches 'Project Gotham' to Deploy Lie-Flats on Transcontinental Routes
Alaska Airlines has announced 'Project Gotham,' a major initiative to install lie-flat 'Aurora' suites on its transcontinental flights, beginning in 2028. The plan involves retrofitting at least 25 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft with 12 lie-flat seats and 12 new 'Premium Reserve' seats each. This move aims to compete with rivals like Delta and JetBlue on lucrative routes to New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The airline expects this premium product to significantly boost revenue, targeting 60% of total revenue from premium sources by 2030.
