Expanding Sinkhole at Malibu Home Forces Evacuation of 31 Properties
A massive sinkhole opened beneath the driveway of a beachfront home in Malibu, California, reportedly owned by actor Nicolas Cage. The collapse, which began as an 8-foot crack on Monday, expanded into a 30-foot-deep crater by Tuesday morning, triggering a gas leak and emergency evacuations for 31 nearby homes. Authorities cited heavy rain from Tropical Storm Marie and high tides as contributing factors, warning that conditions may worsen due to coastal erosion.
