Lions rest starters as Bengals seize early edge in preseason opener

Detroit rests most of its starters in the preseason opener, starting QB Luke Altmyer with first‑round rookie Blake Miller seeing action; Cincinnati’s first‑team offense moves the ball, helped by a 56-yard Evan McPherson FG and a Flacco-to-Endes TD to take a 10‑0 lead. Detroit answers with late-second-quarter field goals from Jake Bates to cut the deficit to 10‑6 at halftime. In the third, Cincinnati adds a field goal to make it 13‑6 as Detroit’s drive stalls after a muffed punt and a botched snap, leaving the Bengals with the edge in this live update.
