Man Killed in Madison Police Shooting After Knife Confrontation
A man in his 30s died after a Madison police officer shot him during a street struggle in the Marquette neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, following a bicycle-theft contact. The man pulled a large fixed-blade knife and injured an officer; a Taser was deployed but unsuccessful, and the officer fired. A second officer was injured (unclear how). Four officers were involved. The man was taken to a hospital where he died. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation will lead the investigation, and all involved officers are on administrative leave.
