Maker Develops First 3D-Printed Variable-Speed Camera Shutter
A maker known as 'Camera Things' has created the first 3D-printed camera shutter capable of variable speeds, solving a long-standing challenge in DIY photography. The mechanism uses sliding strips and a rubber band to adjust the width of the light opening, effectively changing exposure time. While the current design is limited to half-frame shots due to space constraints, it represents a significant breakthrough for hobbyists. The creator plans to abandon this specific design in favor of a more complex vertical leaf system but has not released the CAD files, leaving the community to recreate the design independently.
