U.S. Auto Coalition Urges Trump to Block Chinese Manufacturers Ahead of Xi Summit
Leaders from six major U.S. automotive trade groups sent a letter to President Donald Trump urging him to maintain strict barriers against Chinese automakers. The coalition, which includes representatives for domestic and foreign manufacturers, franchised dealers, and suppliers, argues that allowing Chinese firms to manufacture in the U.S. would undermine fair competition and national security. This appeal coincides with upcoming diplomatic talks between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, following Trump's earlier comments suggesting he might permit Chinese plants if they hire American workers.
