Tuscan Heist: Thieves Drain 30,000 Bottles of Antinori Wine in Record $5.8M Job
A coordinated gang of at least seven masked men executed the largest wine theft in Italian history, stealing approximately 30,000 bottles of premium vintages from Marchesi Antinori’s facility in Tuscany. The stolen inventory, valued at $5.8 million, includes flagship labels such as Solaia, Tignanello, and Guado al Tasso. The thieves disabled security systems and used the winery’s own forklifts to load two trucks before fleeing. Authorities are investigating the incident, which was discovered on Monday but publicly announced on Friday to protect the investigation. The company has warned global clients to avoid unofficial sales channels, while executives express cautious optimism that the volume of stolen goods will eventually attract attention and lead to recovery.
