Speeding boat crash on Fox River near McHenry leaves 1 dead, others injured
A speeding boat allegedly rode over a smaller vessel on the Fox River near McHenry, killing one occupant at the scene and injuring another. Emergency crews responded to the 1800 block of South Fernwood Lane; the McHenry County Coroner took possession of the victim for autopsy, and the other occupant was hospitalized. The occupants of the faster boat fled the area as the Fox River was closed indefinitely between Stratton Lock and Holiday Hills, with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois DNR, and other agencies on scene continuing the investigation.
