"Massive 'Megaberg' Sets Sail: World's Largest Iceberg on the Move"
The world's largest iceberg, known as a "megaberg," is finally on the move after being stationary for over three decades. With a height of 400 meters and a width of 3,900 square kilometers, the iceberg is nearly three times the size of New York City. British researchers aboard the RRS Sir David Attenborough spotted the iceberg while studying the effects of climate change in the Southern Ocean. The iceberg is expected to be swept along by ocean currents towards "iceberg alley" and potentially disrupt the ecosystem of South Georgia Island. Icebergs provide valuable information about historical climate conditions and serve as a source of nutrients for marine life. While icebergs eventually melt, the larger ones tend to last longer.
