Metro 2039: Ukrainian Perspective Turns Moscow's Ruins into a Political Horror FPS
4A Games has unveiled Metro 2039, a single-player horror FPS that returns to a nuclear-ravaged Moscow, but is told from a distinctly Ukrainian perspective. The Stranger, a fully voiced survivor, battles mutated monsters and a new autocratic regime called the Novoreich, whose propaganda and child abductions echo real-world Russian aggression. The game preserves Metro staples like air-monitor beeps and gas masks while leaning into psychological horror, and it features collaboration with Dmitry Glukhovsky. Due for release this Winter on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, Metro 2039 marks a rare direct political critique in games about the war.
