Metro 2039, unveiled by 4A Games, is described by Metro author Dmitry Glukhovsky as an experiential, darker post-apocalyptic journey through Moscow, inspired by Russia’s war in Ukraine and aimed at transcending a traditional game format.
Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of the Metro series, has been sentenced to eight years in prison by a Moscow court in absentia for allegedly spreading false information about Russia's armed forces. Glukhovsky, who has been critical of the Kremlin, was labeled a "foreign agent" and is wanted by Russian authorities. The sentencing comes after Russia passed a law punishing those who spread "fake" information against the government's narrative on the war with up to 15 years in prison. Glukhovsky had previously announced plans for a new entry in the Metro series, which is being developed for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
