"Intense Space Storms Illuminate Northern Lights Across North America"
Metro Vancouver residents may have the opportunity to witness the vibrant display of the northern lights over the next few days, thanks to stormy space weather. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has issued a geomagnetic storm watch, with the effects possibly lasting until November 10. The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) predicts "high" auroral activity, with viewings possible across Canada and as far south as Boise and Indianapolis. The UAF's online aurora monitor map provides a forecast of the aurora's reach on different days.
