Michigan president-elect diagnosed with brain cancer, delaying leadership transition
The University of Michigan announced that Kent Syverud, selected to be the university's 16th president, has been diagnosed with a form of brain cancer and will not assume the role. Interim President Domenico Grasso will continue leading as the university restarts the search for a new president, and Syverud plans to rejoin the Michigan Law School faculty after treatment at Michigan Medicine.
