DeSantis faces backlash over migrant flights.
A Texas sheriff's department has recommended criminal charges be brought against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' migrant relocation program after an investigation into the first iteration of the program. The program sent 49 asylum seekers, mostly Venezuelans, from San Antonio to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, last August. The migrants were allegedly lured onto the flights with false promises of jobs and opportunities on the other end. The case includes both felony and misdemeanor charges of Unlawful Restraint. It is now up to prosecutors in Bexar County, which includes San Antonio, to decide whether to follow the sheriff's recommendation.
