Understanding and Treating Milia Safely at Home.
Milia, also known as milk spots, are tiny white bumps caused by the accumulation of dead skin cells, oil, and debris that get trapped in your pores. They are often mistaken for pimples or clogged pores but require a different approach to treatment. Milia can be caused by genetics, skincare products, sun damage, hormonal changes, poor exfoliation, medical conditions, and trauma. To treat milia, avoid picking or scratching them, use facial exfoliants, avoid heavy skincare products, use retinoids or topical creams, try a warm compress or chemical peel, invest in a good sunscreen, and visit a dermatologist if necessary. To prevent milia, cleanse your skin properly and often, stay hydrated, and moisturize daily. If self-care treatments at home do not work, seek medical attention.
