Understanding and Treating Milia at Home.

Milia, also known as milk spots, are tiny white bumps caused by the buildup of dead skin cells, oil, and debris that get trapped in your pores. They are not caused by bacteria or other irritants and are simply keratin-filled cysts that form under the skin’s surface. Milia are quite common, especially in newborns, those with fair skin, and those who are frequently exposed to the sun. To treat milia, avoid picking or scratching them, use facial exfoliants, avoid heavy skincare products, use retinoids, try topical creams, use a warm compress, try a chemical peel, invest in a good sunscreen, and visit a dermatologist if necessary. To prevent milia, cleanse your skin properly and often, stay hydrated, and moisturize daily.
