UK MoD to Trial Foot-Launched Paragliders for Covert Troop Insertions
The UK Ministry of Defence is set to trial a new foot-launched powered paraglider system developed by Wiltshire-based startup Blakcro. Backed by £6 million in funding, the rucksack-sized gliders allow Royal Marines and Parachute Regiment troops to fly up to 200 miles behind enemy lines without requiring aircraft or runways. Trials are expected to begin in late 2026, marking a shift toward individual, stealthy air mobility for special operations.
