North Carolina to Launch Digital Driver Licenses in December, with Apple Wallet Support Followed in 2027
North Carolina's Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) will launch a mobile driver's license program in December 2026. Initially, the digital ID will only be available through the state's NC Wallet app. Support for Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, and Samsung Wallet is expected to arrive in early 2027. The digital ID is a free supplement to physical licenses and will be accepted at TSA checkpoints and by law enforcement using secure readers.
