MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9600 Pro: 2nm Process, 2+3+3 Big-Core Design and 30B On-Device AI MoE

MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9600 Pro and 9600M on a 2nm process. The Pro uses a 2+3+3 All-Big-Core layout (2x C2-Ultra at 4.55 GHz, 3x C2-Pro at 4.35 GHz, 3x C2-Pro at 3.10 GHz) with LPDDR6/UFS 5.0, a Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU, dual AI engines and Generative/Agentic AI 3.0 capable of running up to 30B local MoE models on-device, delivering improved single-core, multi-core performance and power efficiency. The 9600M, in contrast, follows a 1+3+4 layout with LPDDR5X and UFS 4.1. Both chips offer advanced imaging, 8K video support, Wi‑Fi 7 and 5G, with devices expected later this year.

Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro: Redefining Performance with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Leica Powered Camera

The Xiaomi 14, equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, has achieved the highest multi-core score ever recorded on Geekbench 6, surpassing Apple's A17 Pro. While the single-core performance falls short, the 4nm SoC demonstrates improved power efficiency. It remains to be seen if the impressive performance is sustained under hotter conditions, but these results indicate that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is a powerful mobile chipset.

"Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon 4 Gen 2: Upgraded Performance for Budget Phones"

Qualcomm has launched its next-generation Snapdragon 4-class mobile SoC, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, which incorporates hardware updates that should modestly boost performance for the most cost-sensitive segment of the mobile market. The new entry-level SoC for smartphones and other devices supports more recent 5G standards and is fabbed to a newer process node. The top line on performance is that Qualcomm is touting a 10% boost in CPU performance, thanks to higher CPU core clock speeds. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 uses the same 2+6 CPU core configuration as its predecessor, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1.
