Taylor Swift has been named to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, becoming its youngest inductee at 36 in the contemporary songwriter/artist category. She joins Lyle Lovett, Shawn Camp, Lee Thomas Miller and Bruce Channel for this year’s class, with induction set for this fall. The honor follows her June induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York and aligns with the 20th anniversary of her debut album as she continues to be celebrated for her songwriting and storytelling in Nashville.

Don Schlitz, the Durham, North Carolina–born songwriter who penned country classics including Kenny Rogers’ The Gambler, died at 73 in the Nashville area after a brief illness. He wrote hits for artists such as Randy Travis and The Judds and earned two Grammys; he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Country Music Hall of Fame, and the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame, and joined the Grand Ole Opry in 2022. He also wrote the Points of Light presidential theme for George H.W. Bush.
