Rare sighting: Wolverine spotted outside usual habitat after 30 years.
A wolverine was spotted in Oregon outside its normal range for the first time in over 30 years. The animal was seen by two anglers near Portland and confirmed by Cascadia Wild, a nonprofit wildlife conservation group, and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Wolverines are rare and listed as threatened in Oregon. Noninvasive monitoring stations have been installed in the area to capture more evidence of the elusive creature, but it is unlikely that the animal will make another appearance as it was likely dispersing and the habitat in the area doesn't meet the life history requirements of wolverines.
