Northwest DC Issued Precautionary Boil-Water Advisory After Pressure Loss
DC Water issued a precautionary boil-water advisory for about 4,970 customers in Northwest DC after a loss of water pressure linked to a Fort Reno Pumping Station power outage. Impacted neighborhoods include Chevy Chase DC, Friendship Heights, Tenleytown, AU Park, Spring Valley, Cleveland Park, Woodley Park, Van Ness, Glover Park, Wesley Heights, and Cathedral Heights. Residents in the affected area must boil water for drinking and cooking, discard beverages and ice made after 12 p.m. on June 5, and follow steps to prepare potable water (cool, optional filtration if possible, boil for 1 minute, store in a clean container). The advisory remains in effect until two consecutive days of testing show no bacteria; officials anticipate lifting it as early as Sunday, June 7.
