Ramaswamy Clinches Ohio GOP Governor Nomination, Faces Acton in November
Vivek Ramaswamy won the Republican nomination for Ohio governor in the primary and will face Democrat Amy Acton in November, with Gov. DeWine term-limited. The field tightened after Dave Yost dropped out and Jim Tressel didn’t run; Ramaswamy defeated Casey Putsch. Acton had no challengers. In fundraising, Ramaswamy reported about $30 million cash on hand (roughly $5 million raised in Q1 2026 plus a $25 million self-loan) while Acton had about $3 million on hand after raising $5.1 million. Vice President JD Vance said he voted for Ramaswamy.
