Paramount+ and HBO Max Merge Into One Platform After Warner Bros. Discovery Takeover
Paramount+ and HBO Max are set to merge into a single streaming platform after Warner Bros. Discovery is acquired by Skydance in a deal valued around $77 billion (EV over $110 billion). BET+ will join Paramount+, and the merged service could exceed 200 million direct-to-consumer subscribers. The close is targeted for Q3 2026, but regulatory hurdles, a consumer lawsuit, and the technical/cultural integration into 2027+ create uncertainty; pricing and a firm launch date have not been announced, and existing services will remain separate in the near term.
