Vatican's Plan to Reunite Ukrainian Children with Families Advances

The Vatican is moving forward with a plan to reunite Ukrainian children who were taken to Russia during the war with their families, following a request from Ukraine and apparent willingness from Russia. Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, Pope Francis' peace envoy, met with President Joe Biden to discuss the Vatican's peace efforts and the return of Ukrainian children. The Vatican's initiative is similar to previous prisoner swaps between Russia and Ukraine facilitated by the Holy See. The details of the operation, including the number of children involved and any conditions set by Russia, remain unclear. Zuppi is also expected to visit Beijing as part of the Vatican's mission.
