Rays Promote High-Velocity Prospect Brody Hopkins to MLB Roster

The Tampa Bay Rays have officially selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Brody Hopkins, moving him from Triple-A Durham to the major league roster. The 24-year-old, who struggled as a starter this season, has found success in a relief role, posting a 3.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts over nine innings since August. This move clears space for Hopkins by optioning Alex Cook and designating Michael Grove for assignment. Hopkins, a 2023 sixth-round draft pick, is now positioned to make his MLB debut and potentially contribute to the Rays' postseason run.

Mariners Weigh Hancock Trade to Kick-Start Offense

Per The Athletic, the Seattle Mariners are signaling they’re willing to trade Emerson Hancock to add offense, even while remaining in the thick of the AL West race. Seattle has rotation depth with Hancock, Gilbert, Kirby, Woo, Miller, and Castillo, plus top pitching prospects, and is choosing to deal from that surplus to boost the lineup. While Castillo could be moved, his age, cost, and contract risk make Hancock a more appealing centerpiece for potential trades. The club’s offense has lagged, especially against left-handed pitching (.216/.302/.334, 87 wRC+), so they could pursue right-handed bats such as Neto, Jeffers, Ward, France, Lane Thomas, Spencer Steer, Heliot Ramos, Matt Vierling, Austin Martin, José Fermín, Oswald Peraza, Luis Robert Jr., or Matt McLain to complement their roster, with Hancock’s four additional years of control increasing his value in any deal.

Flora, who sits in the upper 90s with a plus changeup and posted a 1.06 ERA with 133 strikeouts in 102 innings as a junior, could reach the majors by late 2027 and has a potential ace trajectory for the Giants.

Roki Sasaki's MLB Future: Dodgers Unlikely, Scouting Report Highlights Potential

Roki Sasaki, a top Japanese pitching prospect, is generating significant interest as he approaches MLB free agency, but he is not necessarily destined for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Despite the Dodgers' interest, Sasaki's decision will likely be influenced by factors such as endorsement opportunities and pitching development, making teams like the Padres, Rays, Mets, and Braves strong contenders. Sasaki's relationship with Yu Darvish and the potential for maximizing endorsements in Japan could also sway his decision away from the Dodgers.

Yankees Weighing Trade Options as Drew Thorpe's Pitching Soars

The New York Yankees are hesitant to include pitching prospect Drew Thorpe in trade talks for Juan Soto, as Thorpe had an impressive first professional season, leading the minor leagues in strikeouts and posting strong numbers. The Yankees, known for their success in developing pitchers, are trying to hold onto Thorpe and Michael King while exploring other pitching options to entice the San Diego Padres in a potential trade for Soto.
