Spirit Airlines Delays Plane Deliveries, Furloughs 260 Pilots
Spirit Airlines will delay Airbus plane deliveries from 2025-2026 to 2030-2031, aiming to improve liquidity by approximately $340 million. This decision will lead to the furlough of around 260 pilots starting September 1, due to grounded aircraft and deferral of future deliveries. The company's CEO stated that these measures are necessary for the airline's long-term profitability and growth, and despite the stock rising by 4.5 percent following the announcement, share prices for the airline remain down by 70 percent since the beginning of the year.
